Sensara receives 4.4 million euros capital investment for international growth
Rotterdam, Netherlands, December 11, 2019
Sensara, supplier of smart solutions for care institutions and home care organizations, has raised an additional investment of 4.4 million Euro (4.9 million Dollar) for accelerating growth in the United States.
In 2013 Sensara (www.sensara.care) was founded as a spin-off from TNO (a Dutch not for profit research organization). They started a research project in 2002 into supporting the elderly through smart sensors. Now Sensara offers solutions to more than 350 care institutions and home care organizations worldwide to provide the best personal care.
The additional investment of 4.4 million Euro (4.9 million Dollar) is aimed to further grow the success of Sensara in the United States. The investment will also be used to migrate the current portfolio to a state-of-the-art cloud solution. This cloud solution will enable Sensara to scale up and will also benefit customers in Europe. Additionally, Sensara will invest in extra staff, expanding the partner network and improving the marketing and sales activities in the United States.
Reinout Engelberts, Sensara CEO: “The first results in the United States are very promising. It is good to see that American care institutions and home care organizations are positive about the way, and the speed, at which Sensara helps them to improve their care. This is even proofed by our customers winning awards with Sensara. This, and other results have convinced our current investors KPN Ventures and Van Herk Ventures of the future potential of our solutions in the United States. We see this financial impulse of KPN Ventures and Van Herk Ventures also as a permanent sense of trust in the course of our business.”
Recently two Sensara customers in the US received awards for innovation and effective use of our solutions: The Pearl Award for McFarlan and McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Bronze Award for Riverwoods Exeter.
Kelly Price, administrator of McFarlan Home about the Pearl Award: “Sensara helps us to reduce the number of falls during the night. Especially for people who go to the toilet and then lose their balance/orientation. Now when they need help we receive a notification immediately and can intervene more swiftly.”
Linda Thurston, Director Health Services at RiverWoods Exeter about the Excellence Bronze Award: “Examples of successful results are a reduction in the number of falls among residents and the fact that eight out of nine occupants experiences that Sensara has increased their sense of privacy. Furthermore, 100% of caregivers say that it is easy to learn”.
